General Motors is recalling 1,497,516 vehicles. The following model years and brands are involved in this recall: 1997 to 2003 Buick Regal, 1998 to 2003 Chevrolet Lumina, Monte Carlo and Impala, 1998 to 1999 Oldsmobile Intrigue, and, 1997 to 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix. The vehicles are being recalled because of a faulty condition in which drops of the engine oil can fall on the exhaust manifold as a result of hard braking. Hyundai is recalling 531,894 model year 2006 to 2007 Accent, Entourage and Sonata vehicles. In addition, this recall also involves model year 2007 Azera, Elantra, and Santa Fe, model year 2005 to 2007 Tucson and 2007 to 2008 Veracruz vehicles. Furthermore, this recall also involves 139,844 Hyundai Kia, model year 2006 to 2007 Sedona, Sportage, Sorrento, Rondo, and Amanti vehicles. All of these vehicles have a problem with the stop lamp switch. The problem with the switch is that when the brake pedal is depressed, the brake lights might fail to illuminate. In addition, a malfunctioning switch can also affect the operation of the brake transmission shift interlock. As a result of a malfunctioning switch, the transmission shifter cannot be moved out of the park position. Furthermore, the electronic stability control malfunction light will illuminate and lastly, if the cruise control is in use, it may not deactivate when the brake pedal is depressed.
