      Stihl Recalls Lawn Tools

Stihl has recalled approximately 2.3 million gas operated lawn care tools. Certain tools are equipped with a toolless gas cap. Because of ingredients used in gasoline such as ethanol and aromatics, the caps can distort and  become increasingly difficult to install or remove. As a result, the potential for a fuel leak can occur. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can result in a fire and a burn injury to the user. The tools involved in the recall include a backpack blower, extended reach hedge trimmer, pole pruner, edger, trimmer/brush cutter, clearing saw, and the Kombi engine. The specific model and serial numbers for the affected products are listed on the Stihl website,  http://www.stihlusa.com/recalls/recall_toolless_cap/ . Use of any of the products involved in this recall should be discontinued and returned to a Stihl dealer. The dealer will then replace the faulty cap at no charge to the consumer. For further information, contact Stihl at 1-800-233-4729 or send the company an email at stihlrecall@stihl.us
