The National Highway Traffic Safety Admistration (NHTSA) has announced a vehicle recall by Volkswagen. Volkswagen is recalling its 2011-2012 Audi R8 Spyder vehicles manufactured between May 18, 2010 and June 22, 2011. The purpose of the recall is to correct a fuel line problem which could result in fuel leakage and possible fire. The fuel line was installed in close proximity to an engine compartment heat shield. The line could rub against the heat shield and create a fuel leak. The fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source could cause a fire to occur. GM Chevrolet Impala
General Motors is recalling 2012 Chevrolet Impala vehicles manufactured between April 19, 2011 and July 29, 2011. During manufacture, the power steering hose was improperly routed and can come in contact with the catalytic converter. Heat from the catalytic converter can melt the power steering hose and cause fluid to leak. Power steering fluid that makes contact with the catalytic converter can ignite, posing a fire hazard. Hamilton Beach is recalling approximately 300,000 of its two slice toasters due to a potential fire hazard. The heating element within the toasters can remain energized, that is, the heating element will not turn off after reaching a predetermined setting. The continuous heating of the contents can can it to burn, posing a fire hazard to consumers. The recall applies to toaster model number 22600 with certain series codes. These codes are in the following format: CXXXXBI and DXXXXBI. XXXX is a four digit code ranging from 0190 through 5290.
