      Honda & Subaru Recalls
                  October 2011

Honda has announced that it is recalling 2006 CR-V vehicles manufactured between October 3, 2005 and July 21, 2006 for a problem with the driver side power window switch. The switch can fail or melt. If the switch fails, the windows become inoperable. If the switch melts, it will produce smoke and a fire can result. Honda will replace the switch free of charge. The recall campaign is expected to begin on or about October 5, 2011. For additional information, owners may contact Honda by calling Honda Automobile Customer Service at 1-800-999-1009.

Honda is also recalling 2011 CR-Z vehicles equipped with manual transmissions built between January 8, 2010 and June 27, 2011.  If the engine stalls while the brake pedal is not depressed, the engine control unit software can cause the motor of the hybrid system to move the vehicle in the opposite direction of the selected gear. Unexpected movement can result in a crash and personal injury for the occupants as well as those in the path of the vehicle. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the recall campaign was begun on September 26, 2011. For further information, owners can contact Honda Automobile Customer Service at 1-800-999-1009

Furthermore, Honda is also recalling 2009-2011 Pilot vehicles manufactured between March 13, 2008 and August 30, 2011. The stitching that secures the end of the driver and front passenger lap belt sections may be incomplete or missing. If the stitching is incomplete or missing, the seatbelt can detach from the anchor webbing. The separation can increase the risk of injury in the event of a crash. The recall campaign was begun on October 3, 2011. For further information, owners can contact Honda Automobile Customer Service at 1800-999-1009

Subaru is recalling 2010-2011 Outback and Legacy vehicles manufactured between January 7, 2010 and May 20, 2011. The windshield wiper motor contains components that can overheat. Overheating can cause combustible items to ignite posing a fire hazard to vehicle occupants. The recall campaign is expected to begin during November of 2011. For further information, owners can contact Subaru at 1-800-782-2783.
