          Honda, Ford and Chrysler Recalls
August                                                                                                         2011

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced recalls for the following vehicles:

Honda -

Honda is recalling 2005 - 2010 Accord, 2007 - 2010 CR-V, and 2005 - 2008 Element vehicles. All of the recalled vehicles were manufactured between July 1, 2004 and August 4, 2010. The transmissions in these vehicles contain a secondary shaft bearing. The outer race of the bearing can break and allow contact between the idler gear and an electronic sensor housing. A short circuit can result causing the engine to stall. In addition, pieces of the race could lodge in the parking pawl allowing the vehicle to roll after the transmission shift lever has been placed in the "park" position. Honda is expected to begin notifying owners on August 31, 2011. For answers to questions, Honda can be contacted by calling 1-800-999-1009. Honda's recall campaign number is R89. This recall affects 1,512,107 vehicles.

Ford -

Ford is recalling 1997 - 2003 F-150, 2004 F-150 Heritage, 1997 - 1999 F-250 (gross vehicle weight less than 8500 pounds) and 2002 - 2003 Lincoln Blackwood vehicles. Exposure of the fuel tank straps to deicing chemicals causes the straps to corrode. Lack of support for the fuel tank can cause the fuel lines to separate from the tank and in some cases, results in contact of the tank with the ground. Either scenario can result in a fire hazard. Ford is expected to begin the recall on September 12, 2011. Ford's recall campaign number is 11S21. For answers to questions, Ford can be contacted by calling 1-866-436-7332. This recall affects approximately 1,100,000 vehicles.

Chrysler Group -

Chrysler is recalling 2008 Grand Voyager, Town and Country, and Dodge Grand Caravan vehicles manufactured between June 24, 2007 and July 30, 2008. The HVAC condensate drain line grommet can leak onto the occupant restraint control module causing the airbag light to illuminate or the airbag to inadvertently deploy. Sudden and unexpected deployment of the airbag can lead to loss of control of the vehicle and a crash. Chrysler is expected to begin notifying owners in August of 2011. For answers to questions, Chrysler can be contacted by calling 1-800-853-1403. This recall affects approximately 299,718 vehicles.
