             Ford's Problem
December 2011

The Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 128,000 vehicles for a problem with the wheel lug studs. The vehicles involved are the 2010-2011 Ford Fusion and Mercury Milan. The vehicles with the problem lug studs were manufactured from April 1, 2009 through April 30, 2009 and December 1, 2009 through November 13, 2010. The vehicles in question were also manufactured with 17 inch wheel rims. The problem with the lug studs is that they can fracture, possibly resulting in wheel separation. The recall is expected to begin on or about January 24, 2012. For further information, owners can contact the Ford Customer Care Center at 1-866-436-7332. The Ford recall number is 11S23.

Hino Motors -

Hino Motors is recalling model year 2012 ND8J, NE8J, NJ8J, and NV8J commercial trucks for a problem with the wheel end retainer. During manufacture, the retainer may have been installed incorrectly resulting in separation of the front or rear wheel and axle from the vehicle. The problem vehicles were manufacured between July 25, 2011 and September 16, 2011. No start date has been scheduled as the manufacturer has been working on a remedy and a notification schedule. Hino is also recalling 2012 NE8J trucks because the steering arm bolts were insufficiently tightened during assembly. Insufficient torque applied to the bolts can result in bolt fatigue, fracture and arm separation. If arm separation occurs, a loss of steering control and eventual crash can result. Hino is also in the process of developing a remedy and notification schedule for this recall problem.

Navistar -

Navistar is recalling 2009 to 2011 Beaver, Holiday Rambler and Monaco Coach brand recreational vehicles. The vehicles were manufactured between January 11, 2008 and April 15, 2011. The front windshield shade can separate from the cabin body and impair the driver's ability to see the road. Preventing the driver from seeing the road could result in a crash. Navistar will inspect the shade mounting clips and repair as necessary. The recall is expected to begin on December 10, 2011. For further information, owners can contact Navistar at 1-877-466-6226.
